Thank you very much Hoss. I did look and try to edit your txt but there were tons of converting todo and also there are some codes that I do not understand so just leave it to the expert.

here's the Metric version of the Hoss Probe Codes with Tool Diameter. I'll make a new screenset for them after work. Hoss File Attachment(s):
HossProbeCodesToolDiameterMetricVersion.zip (13kb) downloaded 225 time(s).

Hoss,
I tried the Automatic Probe and found it works in finding a center of a hole. However, when I enabled the "machine coords" button which changes the XYZ DROs to display a different coordinates, followed by pressing the "find the center of a hole" button, my machine rapirs to the left and stops when the X limit switch is hit. Does this feature have different behavior when the "machine coord" button is enabled? If so, then how do I use it or give what ever info is needed.
Also, in the "Auto Prove" section, there is a button showing a black circle with red marks on the center of black circle and 4 more at the left, right, top, bottom of the circle. When I pressed this button, I get a "Script error". What is this button used for?
Thanks,

It's like the old joke, I went to doctors and told him my arm hurts when i raise it in the air. his advice was "don't raise your arm in the air" i wouldn't use the Machine Coord when you're probing. the codes are taking inputs from the DROs as they run and resets them to zero but the Mach Coord are not affected and the codes aren't seeing the changes they need. just my guess. the round button with 4 arrows is the outside diameter probing button. If the code is missing or corrupt you can just replace it from the code updates. Hoss

Hoss,
Is there a way to not run the probe code if Machine Coord are selected? Or, force code to use the non Machine Coord? It would be much safer and can save myself from replacing a broken probe.

you could ask on erniebros or greolts threads listed in post #1, they are the programming experts. Hoss

Hoss, With the G540, there are 4 input ports. The gecko rev3 manual shows on page 3 that there are 4 limit switches. If I understand correctly, I should be able to connect 3 switches NC in series and use only one port. If that is the case, would I be able to use one of the 3 remaining input ports for the tool probe? Thanks, -4ist

Yes you would, you only need 1 input for all limit or home switches if they are NC wired in series, the preferred method. Hoss

Hoss, I have downloaded the autoprobe screen sets and I am seeing some strange movements. For example when I click the lower left corner sometimes it works and some times it doesn't, I have seen the left and right edge move in the wrong direction and then clicking a again they work correctly. Since I barely know what I am doing in the screen design area let me ask some basic questions. Do the .txt files have to be loaded in a specific folder or is that info contained in the .jpgs. The offset screen comes up correctly even though the .jpgs are loaded in a subfolder called bitmaps under bitmaps(I think your extraction file did this). Should they be moved to the top bitmap folder? I watched the video and downloaded everything twice and still no luck. Thanks for the help. George

Hoss, A bit more information on the above post. Went back and checked the Millbitmaps are in the right place and found the button editor and confirmed button code was in the right place. But I am seeing a problem in both the x and y probe. If I probe the right edge the program works. When I move the mill and prob the left side the mill goes the wrong way the first time, it goes to the probing limit and sets zero. I move it within 3" of left edge and try again and it works. Move back to right side and probe it moves the wrong way. Second time and there after it works perfect. Why does shifting from one side to the other cause a movement in the wrong direction the first time? I looked at your code and it makes sense. In case XNew variable was picking up a value from somewhere I added a XNew = 0 statement before the XNew=DRO +/- 3 statement and that didn't help. The corner probs show a similar problem, sometimes they work and sometimes they get to a point and stop.
Also thought it might be noise on the probe line and I added a capacitor across the lead.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
George

Sounds like Mach is still getting a stray signal from somewhere. Try hitting the reset button between probes, that should clear out any problems. Also make sure that Machine Coordinates isn't selected. make sure that the Tool Offset LED isn't lit. Hoss

Hoss amazing work as usual! I do have a small problem tho. Most everything works great it edge finds each side no problem but when I try to edge find a corner it z probes then goes off to X and drops down and then I get "Probe plate is grounded, check connection and try again" But they light is off and there is no probe contact. I looked at the code and can't find a problem with it at all. Like I said the Z X Y probing works fine on their own just not the corners... Any idea?

After reading at6cs post I remembered that when doing the center hole probe it would sometimes work and sometimes it would probe the X in the - direction and then stop when it found it and then instead of going in the + direction it would go - again... Luckily I just had a loose part on there holding by hand or that would have been bad... Other times it would work correctly or do the same thing on the + side. like probe left fine probe right fine then try and feed into the right instead of centering before probing in the Y direction.
Then I would be like whats going on and try it a couple more times and it would work perfectly.
Unclear as to what that problem could be too. I do have a older rather slow machine maybe its just messing up or something... I did notice when I went to debug the script it ran REALLY REALLY slow almost locked up slow... Not sure if thats normal or my machine is just junk. I do not ever have any other problems running Gcode on the machine for hours on end but never messed with scripts and such.

look for this line in the code
If GetOemLed (825)<>0 Then 'May need to use =0 if it errors
Hackmax has problems with the <>0 so he changed it to =0 to fix it. My system just stops if I use =0. Hoss

Hey Hoss gave that a shot and like you said it doesn't do anything for me either. If I hit reset a bunch of times jog the table and keep trying it it will eventually start working and once it does it works fine over and over. Until I guess I restart mach not sure when it decided to mess up again, I will let you know if I see any other pattern. It also doesn't seem to set it back to incremental or whatever it was set to before but again only sometimes... Hoss wrote:look for this line in the code
