Hoss,
I got the X and Y axis turning. I am using mach3, probotix 3 axis kit with the red motors motor specs * 260 Oz In. Hybrid * 1.8° /200 Steps Per Rev. * Rated 12-24 Volts* * 2.5 Amps Current Per Phase * 4-wire Bi-polar * NEMA 23 Frame * Factory Enameled Red Body * Now with dual shafts! Anyways I was jogging the axis and found that the axis kept going all the way to the end and bottoming out the motor or hitting the end cap on the x axis. I did not see any limit switches in your original build. Did you used soft limits or something? If so how did you set them? I need to figure out the X and Y seeing as I have to do the z axis and after i can do a few parts on this I will be setting up my new to me Industrial hobbies mill with servo retrofit.
P.S. lost the balls on the y axis ballscrew. Tried to put them all back in but think i missed a few as the axis will bind and then be fine. there is a clicking coming from the ballscrew

Hey Chris If you don't have home switches you can run an axis to one end of it's limit and hit the REF Home button in Mach to zero the axis. clicking the Soft limits button will then limit the axis travel to what you set it in Config/Homing/Limits. Min 0, Max 8.0 for the X for example. Ballscrews are supposed to work missing a few bearings but mine made the same binding crunching noise when I lost a few. Added a few and all was well. measure them and get some replacements here. http://stores.shop.ebay.com/ToolSupply_Ballscrew-balls_W0QQ_fsubZ13610778QQ_sidZ74456173QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322Hoss

About the ballscrews clicking I had a ballnut come off the screw and it had to go back on and all the way in the other direction before I could take it apart kinda fouled it up I put it back together and it ckicks and stickes sometimes but it works ps It as 2" dia and the nut was 8" long so iam not going to replace it (manual machine) and the machine was free to start with see picts of the machine at www.wildhorsemfg.4t.comand go to the mill page cody
