hey hoss, i am having some trouble with my tool changer like yours that i have built letting my tool pull out of the collet. i was only taking a .050 cut at 10 ipm and it was pulling it out. when i tighten my drawbar to where it wont let the tool slip my air cylinder wont drop the tool, and where it will drop the tool it pulls my tool out. if you could maybe help me with this problem i would be very happy. thanks Dylan.

Hey Dylan, Are you using at least 100 psi? Is the cam as close to the drawbar as possible without touching when retracted? When the collet is real tight you want the cam to move as much as possible against the drawbar to release the tool. Hoss

yah i have 105 psi and it is like .01" from the drawbar. i built my own set of tormach tools but i did not put the lip around the outside if the toll holder that rests against the collet, would that have something to do with my problem.

I think so, watch this animated gif from tormach, you can see how the holder has a recess in it for the collet to move. File Attachment(s):
