I have been wanting to build a cnc machine
and hoss' site has provided a lot of motivation and ideas.

I would like to convert my jet dillmill to servo motors
like www.cnccookbook.com did.

I recently was given 4 Bandit cnc systems
One is a trainer that has a plotter (no driver boards)
2 are mostly parts
and the othe is a sevo system that
was used on a bridgport very little
and worked a when it was removed about 5 years ago.
I think the servo motrs are about 500 in oz.
I also have 3 more 500in oz servos from a parts
machine.

The bandit was the forerunner of the www.shadowcnc.com
they are built for easy service.
all the IO bords slide in and out of a rack.
this is what they are
slot
*1 empty
2 interpolator
3 processor
*4 pop/intlk i/o (input fom cam pc)
5 main logic
6 motor logic
*7 m funtion
*8 relay
*9 relay
*10 plotter or relay

the * means not required for basic operations
then there is a power supply (the one on the trainer is ~45v)
and a driver bord for each axis
and a bord with input buttons and lights and the led screen

They are a fairly simple machine for the most part.
the trainer took some work but now i can dray circles
squares spirals ect.
they use a form of G/M code but it is easeyer to mill/draw
a circle than a square ( believe it or not)
here is what is required to draw a circle
the machine starts the bottom center where it is currently at.

/X-.5 (enter)
G2 ( start)

done Simple Enough
the .5 is the radius

I would like some input on how to get the servo system to do anything
right now it is in a cold envirment that may be a/the problem
When i plug it in the relay clicks , the fan turns on
I turn on the power switch it lights up and acts like the trainer
but whan i try to jog in a direction it gives me the error/reset light (?servo fault)
but the servos never do any thing, lock up ,ect.

I would like any help any one can offer.
