Hey Hoss
I was looking at the RF-45 page on your web site. Concerning the spreadsheet. Are the mills listed in any order? The reason I'm asking, I ordered the Precision Mathews 45M.

Hello Hoss!
What size motor would suggest for 'Z' on a RF45 clone? Will a Nema 34 1200 oz-in work or should I look at the 42 class of motors?
BTW: Is there a formula I can use to answer this question?

The 1200 is what I would use if I went with steppers. Check out this chart from Novakon that shows what a lot of the bigger mills are using, note that Tormach only uses a 650 oz/in. http://www.novakon.net/NM-200%20Series%20II%20Comparison%20Chart.pdfHoss

Thanks Hoss! Looks like Tormach got slammed for using 650 oz-in. I was thinking around 800 oz-in for X/Y and 1800 oz-in for Z. If you think 1200 oz-in will work for Z that will save a few bucks. Gods Speed, Ironheart...
