Hey Hoss, been following your work, it's a great inspiration.
Viewed the video on limit/homing switches and have some questions regarding my X2 build (CNC fusion ballscrews, G540, and Keling steppers).
I've got (3) lever switches that can be wired NC or NO, planning on using these as home switches with soft limits just like your video. Now the questions:
(1) Should I wire these as NO or NC. Everything I've read says home switches should be NO whereas limit switches should be NC. I thought I heard on the video that you said yours were NC. Which way to go (and why)?
(2) Not really sure about the active hi/low thing as that might dictate whether NC or NO?
(3) For the G540, there are (4)input pins available. Limit switches can be wired in series and tied to a single input pin. What about home switches only? Are they wired in series or should each switch go to a separate pin?
Been reading and seaching and still confused so any light shed would be helpful. I'm really close, all motors drive in the right directions. Once I get the limits (home referencing) worked out I'll be ready to jump in and do some more damage.
Thanks, Cadwiz

I've followed cnc4pcs good advice and wire them NC, that goes for home or limits which can all be wired together in series using only 1 input. Mach only homes one axis at a time and if you have an over travel, it would generally only be one axis as well. Machs just waiting till it picks up a signal from the input to take action. It will know whether its homing or an over travel. The reason for NC is that if there were a break in one of the wires, you would get an alarm immediately, with NO you wouldn't find out there was a problem till the machine smashed into something. the NO switch closing wouldn't register in mach if a wire is broken. Thanks Hoss, much appreciated. Time to wire up and see what other trouble I can get into.
